Firstly, we want to thank all those users who pointed to this article on the Wordfence website. A lot of users are concerned about the other plugins by BestWebSoft that may pose a potential threat in their opinion.

For our part, we would like to put some clarity into the issue. To begin with, our old captcha was the first experience in the history of our company when we transferred rights to the new owners. Unfortunately, we did not foresee some issues, and some points were not worked out properly. Many users did not receive timely notification that the owner of the WordPress repository had changed, which caused a lot of questions and confusion.

As we wrote in our blog on September, 5, the new owners of the Captcha repository are simplywordpress, so all the changes they make to the code and structure of the plugin are no longer our concern. We are not responsible for the backdoors that they tried to implement into the code either, therefore, we are not responsible for the consequences that all these actions may cause.

We sincerely hope for the prudence and understanding of our customers and want to note that, more recently, we released our new Captcha, which in time will contain even more interesting and useful features. We also would like to remind you that we have Google Captcha (reCAPTCHA) plugin, and we still support the Pro version of the Captcha plugin.

As before, our plugins are completely safe for site owners. Our company cares about our users and customers and will never allow such backdoors or similar vulnerability issues related.
We would be happy to answer all your questions regarding the functionality of our plugins or help to solve the problems associated with them.

Please follow our blog and social accounts where we’re going to keep you informed about this situation.
